If you live on the east coast, I totally missed Saturday's post. If you're on the west coast, like me, I made it with an hour to spare. Whew! What a busy day. School clothes shopping for the kiddo, groceries, and all the things we save up for the weekend. Chores. Boo! Well, they're over and now it's time to share excerpt 5 because there are only 5 days remaining until August 22nd, the official release day of Jenny's Blue Velvet.

I lay back on the cool concrete. The world around me is dizzy. “Jason?”

“Right here.”

“Let’s stay like this forever, ’kay?”

He strokes my hair. “We will always be like this, Jenny. We don’t need Vegas to be like this.”

Excerpt 4 - Jenny's Blue Velvet - Countdown to Release Day

When I write, I listen to music. I usually have a different genre or different songs set aside for each character. While writing Jenny's Blue Velvet, I listened to a lot of Lana Del Rey, Norah Jones, George Winston, and various songs from the Twin Peaks Soundtrack, but two songs in particular could easily be considered theme songs for Jenny's and Cassandra's lives. National Anthem by Lana Del Rey and Royals by Lorde.

Excerpt 3 - Jenny's Blue Velvet - Countdown to Release Day

7 days!!!

The last month has been a rainbow of emotions for me. Jenny's Blue Velvet has been complete for a few weeks now, so it's all been a waiting game that's totally driving me bonkers.

Marketing is not something I ever felt comfortable with and I pretty much avoided it on most of my previously published books. We all know that if nobody knows about your book, nobody will buy it, and that's been true in my experience thus far.

This time, I'm changing things up. I somehow mustered up some guts, and I'm asking people to buy Jenny's Blue Velvet. I hired Xpresso Book Tours to hold a cover reveal, book blitz, and blog tour. I even had postcards made that I'm going to hand out to random people on the street this weekend.

I'm nervous. I want to hide under the bed. I'm scared. But most of all, I want Jenny's Blue Velvet to be successful, so I'm powering through all these emotions and playing the part. I hope I do well. We shall see in a week!

Leo brushed blond strands from her face. His breathing felt warm on her cheek. She could lose herself in those soft blue eyes for an eternity. They held this moment for several heartbeats, just them, alone, staring at each other as though they only now discovered how wonderful it felt to be so close. If they were to move, the world would melt around them.

The countdown to the release of Jenny's Blue Velvet has begun! Well, I've been quietly counting the days for weeks now. 9 more days until the official release on August 22nd. How about celebrating with an excerpt each day until then? What a splendid idea. Splendid, I say.

My life should be filled with blooming flowers, singing birds, and the music of the crashing waves on the shore. I’m meant to be in a place surrounded by these things. Hawaii, to be precise. Not in a vacuum that’s sucking my soul away.
